Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi is an internationally-known author and lecturer on cosmetic dermatology and cutaneous laser surgery. She joined the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in 2001 and currently serves as the Co-director of Laser Surgery. As a leader in the field of cosmetic dermatology and one of the most experienced injectors in the country, she serves on the National Education Faculty to assist in the development and training of other physicians on the best use of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Dr. Tanzi pursued her medical education at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, where she graduated in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society at the top of her class.
She completed her dermatology residency at Columbia University, St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York where she served as chief resident. She subsequently completed a prestigious dermatologic laser surgery fellowship at the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery.
Dr. Tanzi has published over 60 original medical articles and chapters and has been involved with the development of several new laser systems and therapeutic techniques that are now commonly used throughout the world. She is an annual invited speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery.
She actively serves as a journal reviewer for the Journal of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, Journal of Cutaneous Laser Therapy, Pediatric Dermatology, and is a contributing editor of Dermatologic Surgery. She has received numerous honors and awards including the Cutting Edge Research Grant and Young Investigators Award from the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Tanzi is currently a consulting dermatologist and investigator for L’Oreal USA and is active with other industry leaders to promote the development of new sunscreen products for use in the United States. Her contributions to the field of dermatology and laser surgery are regularly featured in many media outlets including The Today Show, CNN, NBC News, Fox News, The New York Times, USA Today, Vogue, Allure, O Magazine, In-Style, Elle, Self, People StyleWatch, and Cosmopolitan.
