What Is GentleWaves LED?
GentleWaves LED is a treatment technically described as photomodulation. It uses many light-emitting diodes (LED) to expose the skin to a precise sequence of light pulses. These pulses of light stimulate increased cell activity, making your skin cells act similar to younger cells that produce more of the essential proteins that are responsible for the qualities of youthful skin, such as a healthy appearance, firmness, and good healing. Unlike Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and similar light treatments, GentleWaves does not depend on causing thermal damage and triggering a healing a response for its results. Instead, GentleWaves works by stimulating the body’s natural biorhythmic responses to light without damaging the cells. The total light exposure to the skin is less than that from a standard light bulb.
What Is GentleWaves LED Used for?
GentleWaves LED photomodulation can provide a number of good results for people with:
- Sun damage
- Dull, unattractive skin
GentleWaves reduces the inflammation and healing time associated with sunburn. It can also reduce the appearance of sun damaged skin and rosacea. The impact on wrinkles is slight, but it can remedy fine wrinkles and restore a youthful glow to aged, dull skin.
GentleWaves LED is not only a facial treatment. It can be used on all parts of the body, including the décolleté (chest), arms, neck, legs, stomach, and back. Any place where you have sun damage, sunburn, or dull skin is a good place for GentleWaves.
We also use GentleWaves extensively to improve healing after more invasive light treatments, such as Fraxel Fractional Laser resurfacing or microdermabrasion. Our research has shown that GentleWaves treatment before or after treatment improves the results and reduces discomfort and healing time of other treatments.
