As the founding director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and a clinical professor at Georgetown University Medical Center, Dr. Tina Alster is one of the most published and respected voices in dermatologic laser surgery in the world. Her influence extends beyond the clinic — from consulting for global skincare brands like Lancôme and La Mer to funding scholarship endowments for women in medicine at Duke University.
Dr. Tina Alster is the founding director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and is a clinical professor of dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She received her B.S. and M.D. degrees with the highest honors from Duke University and completed her dermatology residency at Yale University. She is a world-recognized leader in dermatologic laser surgery and has published hundreds of articles and 8 textbooks on the subject. Dr. Tina Alster maintains leadership and board positions in numerous professional and national organizations and has served as a consultant to several skin care and device companies, including Lancôme and La Mer. Her commitment to teaching and mentoring others is evident in her establishment of scholarship endowments for women pursuing careers in medicine at Duke University. She has received numerous accolades by her peers including the prestigious Mentorship and Legacy Awards from the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS).
